The InstituteThe Institute of Maritime and other Transport Law was founded in 1965 with the support of an endowment by the Axel och Margaret Axelson Johnssons stiftelse för allmännyttiga ändamål and continues today with the additional support of other sponsors. The Institute maintain Sweden's largest transport law library accessible to the public, it gives courses in transport law both within and outside the frame of the university, seminars for students , seminars and guest lectures for researchers and practitioners and at regular intervals international colloquia in transport law. The Institute also issues a publication series on transport law subjects. The Institute is regularly heard by the Government and other authorities on proposed legislation and other such matters. Work at the Institute is conducted in the Institutes premises at the Law Faculty of the Stockholm university. Active researchers are principally our Director Johan Schelin, Senior Lecturer, LL.D and Hugo Tiberg, juris doctor and juris professor. Research & Administrative assistant is Tammie Simpson. Other researchers and practitioners in the transport law branch are also tied to the Institute.
