Words of former master students
“After
taking an international and comparative law concentration
during my American legal studies and after working in an
international environment at law firms in the United States,
I developed a keen interest in EU law. When I sought to
relocate to Europe, I learned that employers value the
specialized knowledge that a master degree in European law
offers. Since EU law has developed significantly in recent
years and since I had yet to choose an EU law specialty, I
sought a master program which gives students a comprehensive
overview of European law.
Stockholm University’s Master Program in European Law
appealed to me because it gives students an excellent
overview of EU law coupled with the unique opportunity to
study under Professor Ulf Bernitz, who ranks among the top
EU scholars in the world. Additionally, many guest lecturers
from top law firms, universities, EU institutions, and
Swedish national government authorities offer an
unparalleled depth of knowledge and diversity of
perspectives to students.
The Master Program in European Law at Stockholm University
also organizes a week-long educational and networking trip
to Brussels, the de facto capital of the EU. Students visit
EU institutions, top law firms, lobbying firms, and regional
authorities. In most cases these visits are arranged
exclusively for the Stockholm University Master Program in
European Law. This gives students a unique opportunity to
interact with top practitioners.
Additionally, Stockholm is a vibrant, diverse, and beautiful
city. During your year in Stockholm, you will surely never
run out of museums, castles, and Swedish cultural events to
see. And since nearly everyone in Sweden speaks fluent
English, you will have no trouble getting around and
enjoying all that Sweden has to offer.
As a result of the quality education and the networking
opportunities that the Master Program in European Law at
Stockholm University has given me, I am now on the path to
reestablishing my career in Europe. I strongly recommend the
program to anyone who seeks to specialize in European Law.”

"At the last year of my legal education, I became conscious
of the fact that EU law was the topic that interested me the
most in the area of law. In today's competitive environment,
lawyers seek specialist knowledge in their relevant practice
areas. Therefore, it was a self-evident choice for me to do
a master's degree in EU law after having obtained my basic
degree.
Stockholm was also a deliberate and obvious choice for me,
because of its excellent reputation. Professor Ulf Bernitz
is a legend in EU law, not only in Sweden, but in Europe as
a whole. In addition to Professor Bernitz, the first-rate
professors, researchers and practitioners that conducted
classes were most impressive. There was also a list of
eminent guest lecturers.
A very important feature of the Master Programme in European
Law is its close links with the EU Law Moot Court
Competition. The outstanding achievements of the Stockholm
teams that have, year after year, beaten top European
universities, speak for themselves!
I thoroughly enjoyed and very much profited from the Master
Programme in European Law at Stockholm University. It is a
degree without equal and I sincerely recommend it to anyone
seeking to become a specialist in EU law."
