Q: My university does not have an agreement with the
Faculty of Law. Can I study law at Stockholm University as a free mover?
A: Yes, as a master student, please see the web page
of the master programmes for further information. No, if you
are an undergraduate student. The Faculty of Law at Stockholm University does
not admit undergraduate students outside existing exchange programmes or exchange agreements (departmental or institutional agreements). Exchange students should be properly nominated by their home university.
Q: My home university has nominated me as an exchange student.
What is the procedure?
A: After receiving the nomination from your home university the international coordinator at the
Faculty of Law will send you a letter of acceptance together with a course catalogue and a course selection form. In the letter of acceptance you will find instructions on how to apply for accommodation. To apply for accommodation you will have to fill in a registration form and send it by e-mail to the International Office at Stockholm University. Deadline is May
15 for students who are coming for the whole academic year or for the autumn term. Deadline for students
who plan to arrive for the spring term is October 15th. You are also supposed to submit the course selection form as soon as possible to the international coordinator.
Q: I am accepted as a student at the Faculty of Law. Am I entitled to apply for student accommodation?
A: Exchange students are entitled to apply for student accommodation through Stockholm University. The University will do
the best to find accommodation for exchange students but there is no guarantee. Please be aware of the fact that you might have to try yourself.
Master students are not entitled to apply for accommodation through the University. Unfortunately neither Stockholm University nor the
Faculty of Law can assist master students in finding accommodation.

Q: I am admitted to one of the master programmes at the
Faculty of Law. Where can I find the schedule?
A: Specific information about the programmes can be found on the web page of each programme. Each programme has a course administrator who will answer questions about the schedule and the contents of the programme.
Q: Which master programmes are offered by the
Faculty of Law?
A: Currently there are four different master programmes: European Law, Law and Information Technology, International Commercial Arbitration Law
,European Intellectual Property Law and
Master of Environmental Law.
Q: What are the criteria to be eligible for a master programme at the
Faculty of Law?
A: Applicants for the programmes must hold a Juris kandidat-degree or an equivalent foreign law degree of at least 120 credit points (a three-year-degree). Applicants for whom English is not their mother tongue must be able to provide evidence of having attained a level of English adequate to meet the demands of the programme,
preferably a TOEFL test (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or an IELTS test (International English Language Testing System). A score of approximately 250 on the computer-based version of the TOEFL test or 6.0 on the IELTS test is required for admission. Swedish applicants must be able
to document three years of English language studies in upper secondary school or the equivalent.

Q: How is the selection of applicants for the master programmes made?
A: The selection of applicants is based on academic merit, letters of recommendation and previous knowledge in the chosen subject. In each case
an overall assessment of the applicant's potential for a successful completion of the programme will be made. Please note that there might be special requirements for some programmes.
