Ilhami Alkan Olsson is assistant professor at the Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Political Science, Istanbul University, Turkey. His teaching and research area include international law, international human rights law, international economic law, and international environmental law.
In his presentation, titled "Four competing approaches to International Soft Law", Ilhami will talk about one of the most disputed issues of modern-day international law and discuss the reasons for why ‘soft law’ has gained such popularity and caused such conflict among scholars. The question of the possible effects of soft law on the normative development of international law will be the focus of this presentation.
