Information Access - Beyond Simple Retrieval

Information access technology is developing beyond retrieval of documents towards more advanced techniques for information refinement, towards handling more than one language, and towards providing data in non-text media. This poses challenges to the traditionally word-based techniques for categorisation of materials.
