         Cornel Marian

Cornel Marian is an associate with SALC Advokatbyrå in Stockholm Sweden.

As counsel, Cornel has represented clients in several arbitrations under the rules of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC). He has previously been involved, in different capacities, in arbitrations under the ICSID, ICC and UNCITRAL Rules. He has advised Swedish and international clients with legal proceedings in the United States and Sweden. He is admitted to the bar before the state courts of New York and Minnesota.

Before embarking on the life-changing ICAL program, Cornel obtained his juris doctor (JD) from the University of Iowa while also, during his last year, he completed his studies as a visiting student at the New York University School of Law. Prior to law school, he studied economics at Boston University receiving a combined master’s and bachelor’s degree in economics. He spent a year as a Fulbright Scholar in Romania and worked for two years as a financial analyst and business manager in Chicago-area.

Cornel has authored over a dozen articles on international arbitration in leading publications, including the Journal of International Arbitration, Arbitration International and Global Arbitration Review. In addition to his native English, Cornel is fluent in Romanian, has a strong, working-knowledge of Swedish and Russian, while also being conversant in French.  
  Polina Permyakova
Senior associate, Delphi, Stockholm

Polina Permyakova is a Senior Associate and a member of Delphi’s Dispute Resolution Group and Russia Desk in Stockholm. Polina has dual Russian - Swedish qualifications and focuses her practice on arbitration and litigation. She acts as counsel in arbitration proceedings under different institutional rules as well as in ad hoc proceedings under the Swedish arbitration act and the UNCITRAL rules. Her experience includes domestic and international arbitrations in a range of industries including international trade, energy, manufacturing and others. She also advises clients on general commercial contracts issues. Polina is a guest lecturer in international commercial arbitration at Stockholm University. She has several publications, primarily in the field of international arbitration and contract law.

  Celeste E. Salinas Quero
Visitng lecturer, SU, Stockholm

Celeste is a visiting lecturer at the Department of Law at Stockholm University and she is also associate counsel at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC).

Celeste obtained her law degree from Universidad de Chile and she holds an LL.M in International Commercial Arbitration Law from Stockholm University (2012).
  Patricia Shaughnessy
Head of Master program in International Commercial Arbitration Law, SU, Stockholm

Dr. Patricia Shaughnessy (Associate Professor) directs the Master of International Commercial Arbitration Law Program at Stockholm University and teaches and researches in related fields.

Patricia is a member of the Board, the International Secretary, and the Chair of the Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Section, of the Stockholm Centre for Commercial Law, an extensive research institute affiliated with Stockholm University. She is the Vice-Chair of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC) and a Board member since 2006.  She has been an active member of the SCC committees that have drafted the SCC Rules. She has also served as the Articles Editor of the Stockholm International Arbitration Review.  She has acted as an arbitrator and has led numerous legal development projects relating to commercial dispute resolution and commercial law in a number of countries.   

Following her doctoral studies, Patricia served for one year as a US Supreme Court Judicial Fellow, working with the Federal Judicial Center. She has been appointed a Senior Fulbright Specialist and has taught and held lectures at a number of universities and other organisations.  Prior to her academic career in Sweden, she practiced law for ten years in a Honolulu law firm, specialised in civil and commercial litigation, was an Adjunct Professor at the William S. Richardson School of Law, at the University of Hawaii, and was a member of the Board of Continuing Education of the Hawaii Bar Association. 
  Friederike Stumpe
Senior associate, Mannheimer Swartling, Frankfurt

Friederike Sumpe is an associate at Mannheimer Swartling, since 2007. In the same year she was admitted to the German Bar. From 2006-2007 she worked as a research assistant at Heidelberg University. She graduated from the LL.M in International Commercial Arbitration Law at Stockholm University in 2006.

Friederike is qualified since 2005 as a Judge/Lawyer at the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court. She holds a law degree from Universities of Passau and Tuebingen.

Friederike is specialized in domestic and international litigation and arbitration proceedings, mainly post M&A and investment disputes and energy-related disputes, as well as in German contract, distribution, corporate and commercial law. She has acted as counsel and secretary in ad hoc and arbitration proceedings under the rules of DIS, SCC, ICC, ICSID and ICSID Additional Facility and has been involved in recognition and enforcement proceedings of foreign judgments and arbitral awards and in the formulation of complex arbitration agreements.
  Sherlin Tung
Deputy counsel, ICC, Hong Kong

Sherlin Tung is currently a Deputy Counsel with the Secretariat of the ICC International Court of  Arbitration in its Asia Office in Hong Kong.

Prior to working with the ICC, Sherlin worked under the  direct supervision of Dr Pierre A Karrer where she was the Tribunal Secretary for over 30  international arbitration cases operating under institutional rules such as the ICC, SCC, LCIA and  DIAC as well as ad hoc arbitrations under the UNCITRAL Rules.

Sherlin is admitted to the  California State Bar and will be admitted to the New York State Bar upon completion of the moral  character interview.

Sherlin is an alumna of the University of California Los Angeles, the University of San Diego School of Law and Stockholm University.
  Gretta Walters
Associate, Mayer Brown, New York

Gretta Walters is an associate in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution group at Mayer Brown in New York.  Prior to joining the firm in 2012, Gretta was a Visiting Lecturer at Stockholm University and Legal Counsel at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.   

Gretta’s work encompasses varied domestic and international complex commercial disputes, with a focus on securities litigation.   

Gretta graduated from American University, Washington College of Law in 2010.  She also holds a LL.M. in International Commercial Arbitration Law from Stockholm University (2011).  

Gretta is a member of the bar of New York.  She also has several publications in the field of international arbitration. 
  Jeremy Zell
Associate, Vinge, Stockholm

Jeremy L. Zell is a U.S.-trained and-qualified lawyer practicing international arbitration law at Vinge in Stockholm.  Jeremy has been with Vinge since early 2009.  He spent one year partially seconded to EQT Partners, one of the Nordic’s largest private equity fund managers.  

Jeremy works  primarily with international arbitrations between parties from around the world, including the United States, Europe, former CIS countries, and China.  Jeremy has worked with disputes concerning a wide variety of subject matter, but his principal focus has been on intellectual property disputes and disputes governed by the Vienna Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).  

Jeremy graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2007.  He holds a LL.M. in International Commercial Arbitration Law from Stockholm University (2008) and has returned to that program as a guest lecturer.  

Jeremy is a member of the District of Columbia bar.  

He has published on the topics of public international law, private international law, and arbitration.
