The e-Stockholm '08 Legal Agenda
The Conference idea
The overall purpose of the e-Stockholm ´08 event is to capture a legal agenda for IT regulations and policies. A principle point of departure is the political dilemma of balancing apt regulatory measures against requests for non-governance of the rapidly developing information society.
The conference intends to bring into focus the advantages and disadvantages associated with varying approaches to legal steering of IT-related activities. This implies perspectives based on theoretical legislative models as well as practical experiences of self-regulation and contract law.
A selection of applications areas has been made in order to illuminate and investigate into the wide variety of regulations and policies found today. In particular, attention will be paid to (i) access to information and copyright, (ii) legal aspects of information security, (iii) privacy in the making, (iv) models for legal information retrieval, and (v) legal risk analyses in IT projects as well as contract management and IT outsourcing.
Who should attend?
The programme intends to attract professionals of different kinds involved in the developing, managing and reviewing of e-solutions for businesses in the private as well as in the public sector. The focus being the interaction of IT and law implies that a wide spectrum of practitioners and scholars are expected in the audience. Just to give a few examples mention can be made of lawyers from law firms, corporations and academia, system specialists, information officers, records managers, security experts and contract managers.
Conference Languages
In spite of the core of this event being the series of Nordic Conferences in Law & Informatics the choice of languages for this event has been expanded as indicated in the programme. It appears natural to mirror the internationalisation of law in a global environment by opening up parts of the conference to an English speaking audience. Furthermore, the language difficulties within the Nordic community itself should not be underestimated.
